Democrat Comptroller Peter Franchot: Tax Hikes Are “The Last Thing” Maryland Needs During Crisis

In case you missed it, Democrat Comptroller Peter Franchot is urging “the Maryland legislature to put on hold” their tax hikes plans during the “panic and economic uncertainty” of the coronavirus crisis.

Yesterday, Maryland Bureau of Revenue Estimates Director Andrew Schaufele warned that the coronavirus could cause a “prolonged, full-blown recession.” With this threat looming, Franchot argued that “the last thing that Maryland families want or need now…is to see headlines about new tax or fee increases.”
