With Maryland’s key COVID-19 metrics improving dramatically, Governor Hogan is continuing his gradual, evidence-based recovery plan. Yesterday, Governor Hogan held a press conference to authorize every county school system in the state to begin safely reopening in accordance with their flexible hybrid plans.
Noting that “nearly everyone agrees that there is no substitute for in-person instruction,” Governor Hogan thanked “all of the parents, child care providers, teachers, and staff for their hard work to adapt to very difficult circumstances in recent months.”
Maryland’s positivity rate is now down to 3.3%, a decline of more than 87% from its peak and well below the World Health Organization’s key benchmark of 5%. Meanwhile, deaths and hospitalizations have also declined dramatically.
