Just last month, we announced our historic, once-in-a-generation agreement with Virginia, which will finally address the gridlock on the Capital Beltway and the horrific traffic congestion in the Washington Metropolitan Region.
Under this agreement, Maryland will continue to improve I-495 from the Potomac River to the interchange with I-95 North and Virginia will complete its 90 miles of manages lanes which lead up to the American Legion Bridge so that capacity will be increased, and the beltway will be vastly improved on both sides of the Potomac.
Maryland will take the lead on the construction of the new American Legion Bridge, and Virginia will contribute nearly half the total cost of this project.
However, partisan politicians and pro-traffic lobbyists want to keep you sitting in traffic.
